The Equine Touch (ET) is a unique form of equine body work which is a non-invasive, muscle and soft tissue address. Working through a series of gentle moves, in a predetermined pattern, it energises the meridians (energy channels) and works through the body holistically, balancing the nervous system, aiding digestion, easing pain spirals and muscle tension and encouraging lymphatic drainage.
Why do horses need Equine Touch? The horse, as essentially a ‘prey’ animal, works hard to disguise any abnormality in its body, and compensates for pain or incapacity in other areas. This may manifest physically, emotionally or in both areas and can prevent the horse from fulfilling his full potential. The Equine Touch is a completely holistic discipline, helping the horse on physical, emotional and spiritual levels to regain balance and achieve homeostasis.

How does this work? As the body is actually programmed to correct itself, whether due to disease or physical imbalance, and to recognise its own innate blueprint for perfect balance, we are able to help it by reinstating or reminding it of that blueprint through the moves and stimuli offered by the moves of the Equine Touch.

These moves, delivered with accuracy, integrity and intent, and an Aikido like breathing technique by the practitioner, challenge the muscles which send reflex messages to the brain, This in turn sends corrective messages back to the muscles stimulating the right (blueprint) response and so helping to restore perfect balance in the body. A complete body balance is offered prior to any areas of concern being addressed.
During each session the practitioner allows periods of rest for the body to recognise and process the moves and to establish their effect in different areas. Equine Touch is offered to the horse to work with in his own way during recuperation from a particular ailment or as a tune-up to maintain good condition and health in regular work or competition. Responses are usually very evident and vary from a deep concentration, relaxation and softening of the eye to yawning, licking and chewing and sometimes even tears of relief falling.
The Equine Touch is suitable for every horse and in all disciplines - dressage, eventing, show jumping, polo, carriage driving, racing, endurance, happy hacking, hunting, and for brood mares, foals, stallions, ponies, veterans and young stock. It is also widely used in rescue and rehabilitation areas.
The Equine Touch is fast becoming recognised in the UK by vets and other health care professionals and is used widely in the States and in numerous countries across the world in conjunction with both allopathic and homeopathic veterinary practice.

The Equine Touch has been described by equine veterinarians as:

"The ultimate hands on modality for horses"
